Welcome to my website. I am Professor of Economics at the University of Toronto. My research spans labour economics, the economics of higher education, and personnel and defence economics.
Much of my work over the past decade has grown out of my experience in university leadership and the perspectives it provided on institutional research and its possibilities. That experience led me to new lines of inquiry in higher education and informed a long-standing interest in military personnel systems, particularly through the use of administrative data to study issues in education, labour markets, and public policy.
This website brings together information on my current research, professional activities, and emerging work connecting higher education, labour markets, and national defence, including questions relating to military service, educational opportunity, and human capital.
